I’m Samuel Molloy, a video editor and motion graphics animator originally from the UK. My career began in the broadcasting industry, where I worked in BBC radio and as a sound recordist in BBC television. This foundational experience taught me the technical requirements of production, including the intricacies of audio capture and sound design. I gained a deep understanding of how to operate industry-standard equipment and the importance of precision in achieving high-quality audio-visual content. These early lessons were invaluable as I transitioned into freelance video editing for various smaller production companies, where I further developed my skills.
In 2013, I moved to the US to further my education. Since then, I’ve built a career working with a variety of clients on projects ranging from full-length documentaries and promotional videos to short films and television commercials.
My career continued in 2015 at The Kitchen, where I worked as a Video Editor and Motion Graphics Animator. This role taught me the fundamentals of transforming ideas into visual narratives while honing my skills in video editing, color correction, animation and sound design. I thrived in the fast-paced environment and gained valuable experience by working collaboratively to deliver content that met the needs of a diverse range of clients.
In 2018, I moved to Short Order Production House as a hybrid Video Editor and IT Manager. This position shifted my focus back to the technical side of production, where I managed media ingestion, server optimization, and streamlined workflows for our production and post teams. This role enhanced my technical expertise and helped me understand how infrastructure and technology can elevate the creative process.
In 2019, I became the Post Production Supervisor at Short Order Production House leading a team of editors. I managed projects from start to finish, coordinating closely with producers, directors, and clients. I loved being part of a collaborative team and seeing projects come to life through a combination of creativity and technical execution.
In 2023, I joined Bowstring as a Video Editor and IT Manager. I've had the opportunity to work with bigger clients and tackle more complex projects. I developed a robust IT infrastructure that enhanced our capability to collaborate with freelance editors around the world, improving our flexibility and expanding the team’s creative capacity. This role has allowed me to continue growing both creatively and technically, while working on projects that have a broader reach and impact.
Throughout my career, I’ve always valued the balance between creativity and technical proficiency. I’m well-versed in industry-standard tools, and I’m constantly exploring new techniques to push the boundaries of what’s possible.
Outside of work, I’m passionate about traveling and photography, which keeps me inspired and helps bring a fresh perspective to my work.
